5 Questions: Alan Horn

1. What do you like best about your job?

My favorite part of my job is taking a current process and reverse engineering it into a function of CRM. I like to know all the intricacies of a process, so starting with a finished product and working backwards is great! It’s a very rewarding experience when I see a project that I’ve been working on truly enhance the customer experience.

2. What are the biggest professional challenges you face and how does ClickDimensions help you address those challenges?

Our instance of Dynamics is relatively new. As we build out the environment, we are constantly looking for ways we can enhance the communication with our customers. Recently, we started utilizing the features within campaign automation. ClickDimensions gives us the ability to proactively communicate with our customer base and convert those touches into actionable follow-up.

3. What was your background before landing in your current role?

I started in government. First, I was a Director for a Chamber of Commerce. A few years later, I went to work for another municipality managing their Customer Service Center. That’s where I learned what a CRM was. I helped create and manage their implementation and then transitioned to Alta Equipment Company. I’ve been with Alta for 2.5 years and am their CRM Administrator. Never would I have thought I would go from organizing networking events to talking about excavators and forklifts!

4. What is your favorite word, and why?

This is a tough one. I have more of a phrase, “You’ve got mail.” There are so many things it could mean. Maybe Amazon dropped off my Christmas shopping, I might watch the movie or maybe it’s a busy day at work.

5. If you could learn a new skill in an instant, what would it be?

I would love to learn to how speak multiple languages. I tried teaching myself for a couple of years. At this point, I only know how to order nachos or ask for some wiener schnitzel. I’ve traveled abroad a couple of times and I’m sure I’m a sight to see.
