5 Questions: Daniel Norris

1. What do you like best about your job?

My favorite aspect of working at Serversys is that each day is different. I love diving into the website traffic and sharing my insights with the team, but I also enjoy organizing projects and producing campaigns that demonstrate the power of Dynamics 365. I have had the opportunity to work on some fantastic marketing initiatives including promoting the company at events and demonstrating the applications we deliver, including my personal favorite, ClickDimensions. I love being able to mix both creative and technical thinking to solve problems.

2. What are the biggest professional challenges you face and how does ClickDimensions help you address those challenges?

Data is the fuel of the 21st century. We collect so much of it; it’s important to make sense of what’s relevant and accurate for analysis. ClickDimensions provides exceptional visual reports and user heatmaps, enabling me to understand and share the performance of campaigns and optimize for the future. My favorite part is that I know the data is reliable as it is directly from my CRM, meaning I don’t have to rely on multiple imports and connectors to get the job done. The other big challenge I face is a lack of time with so many projects in the pipeline. ClickDimensions helps because I can quickly build automated campaigns using an easy-to-use drag and drop editor that allows us to communicate with clients about a variety of our products and I can still focus on other things such as creating a social campaign or writing content.

3. What was your background before landing in your current role?

If I go all the way back, my background really started with a strong passion for web design and even coding small HTML projects when I was as young as 14! I studied communications and media at De Montford University, which I loved, and I knew digital communications was something I wanted to pursue in my career. After graduation, I went on to work at a distribution company, focusing on relaunching its e-commerce website. I then moved to an award-winning book publisher outside Leicester as a digital marketing manager, developing social media and video strategies as well as delivering online marketing services to authors. I took the plunge and went travelling across Europe and then relocated back to Berkshire where I’m happily working at Serversys. I have been lucky to take on fresh challenges across different industries which has helped me to develop a wide skillset and kept professional life interesting.

4. If you could have a superpower, what would it be?

I would definitely like to read minds. Would certainly make marketing easier!

5. If you were stranded on a desert island, what three items would you want to have with you?

A WiFi connected device, a fishing rod and a suitcase full of books.
