Introducing skip logic in ClickDimensions surveys

We are pleased to announce that the ClickDimensions survey tool now has page and question level skip logic. You may have also heard this referred to as branching logic. What it provides is the ability to skip questions or entire pages of questions based on responses selected in a survey. Let’s take a look at how it works…

We’ll build a very simple survey with four pages. We will employ question and page level skip logic. Below is how the survey looks in the designer. Note that the ‘L’ icons on page 1 question 1 and on page 2 indicate that logic is being used…

When we open the properties of question 1 we see a new tab named ‘skip logic’. Clicking this shows the logic we have added to the question. What you can see is that, if you answer ‘MS CRM 4.0’ you will then go on to page 2 but if you answer ‘MS CRM 2011’ you will be taken to question 4 on page 3…

We have also added page skip logic to page 2 so that, once a respondent completes the questions on page 2, he or she will automatically be taken to page 4…

Let’s take our simple survey and see the two paths it can take. We’ll start by selecting ‘MS CRM 4.0’ on question 1 on page 1…

This takes us to page 2 where we select our favorite feature…

We are then skipped to page 4 where we see the final text…

Now we’ll run through the survey by selecting ‘MS CRM 2011’ in question 1…

We are taken to page 3 but we only see question 4 because we skipped over question 3…

Had we changed our skip logic on question 1 to go to page 3, question 3…

then we would see both questions on page 3…

With page and question level skip logic you have all the power to deisgn complex surveys using ClickDimensions. Happy Marketing!
