Sending emails to alternate email addresses on Lead and Contact records

By default the ClickDimensions email marketing component sends emails to the email address 1 field on the CRM Lead and Contact records. However, we have now added the capability to allow you to specify which email address you want used.

This requirement came about because a large client of ours stores the email addresses of each Contact’s assistant in the email address 2 field. Some of their emails need to go to the Contact him/herself while others need to go to the Contact’s assistant. Of course, you could use this in a number of other ways.

Note that the newly added Email Address Field is not required. If you do not set it we will use the email address 1 field by default.

Does this same fucntionality exist when sending within a Campain to a Marketing list. Can I send an email campaign to Email Address 3 for example?

Yes. When you send a ClickDimensions email you can link that Email Send record to a campaign and specify that it should use email address 3 for the recipients to whom the email it is being sent.

Is there any way you can send an email to a custom email field or do you have to use one of the OOB email fields?

Currently, you must use the OOB fields. However, it is likely that we will add much more flexibility around this in a coming release.

Is this feature of choosing alternate e-mail still available in current version fo CD?

  6. ClickDimensions August 19, 2015 at 1:51 pm - Reply

Yes. This feature is still available. It can be found on when creating a new Email Send record. In newer versions of CRM, it may appear lower on the screen… scroll down the page, and you should see the “Email Address Field” field. Thanks!

I found the field at an e-mail send, but how can I trigger this while using the Clickdimensions Send E-mail inside a workflow?

  8. ClickDimensions February 29, 2016 at 10:09 am - Reply

Hi VanGelderNL – Currently, the field you are referencing is not available in the Send ClickDimensions Email workflow step, so you cannot have the step send to email 2 or 3.
