The ClickDimensions marketing automation and email marketing solution includes four different email editors. Each editor is unique and may offer different benefits for certain types of email templates you are trying to build or may better suit the skills of those building the emails. Let’s take a closer look at each editor so you can determine which one will work best for your business case.
1. Drag and Drop email editor – This is a “What You See Is What You Get” (WYSIWYG) visual editor. This is our simplest editor to use and it allows you to build visually pleasing emails with no need for HTML coding experience. Drag and Drop templates are automatically responsive by default. This means that the template will automatically scale to fit the screen (mobile, desktop, tablet) on which it is being viewed. If you want an easy-to-use editor that allows you to build without any coding knowledge, this one is for you.
2. Block email editor – This editor is a right-click-based WYSIWYG template editor that gives you the ability to add or remove individual content blocks to build your template. With this editor, you can access some HTML within HTML content blocks, but you do not have access to things like header code or metadata. This is a great editor for building block-based email templates.
3. Freestyle email editor – This is a robust email editor that gives you full access to the template HTML (source code) and a visual designer. The editor itself is based on HTML tables, allowing you to make changes directly in the design mode or switch to the source mode and edit the HTML components to get a specific effect. This is a great editor for people who want an easy-to-use visual template builder, but also want to have access to the source HTML to make custom edits to the template.
4. Custom HTML email editor – This is a pure HTML only editor. If you are comfortable building out your template from scratch using HTML coding, this editor is for you. You can also use this editor and the Freestyle editor to paste the HTML of an externally built email template directly into the source section. This will allow you to pull in templates designed by an outside team or from a previous platform.
If you are looking for something easy to use, but want to stay away from having to code your own emails, the Drag and Drop editor is the way to go. But don’t let that steer you away from the other ClickDimensions email editor options. Both the Freestyle and Block editors have user-friendly interfaces that allow you to build beautiful templates with minimal code knowledge. I encourage you to try all of our editors to see which one works best for you.
